Didam Laah is AMDF’s Journalist for the Month of August

Didam Laah is a polymath development journalist/broadcaster. He is an advocate of good governance and citizen engagement, a media entrepreneur, public speaker (centering on youth/personal development). Didam is a Technical Working Group (Access to Information) member of Open Government Partnership, OGP, in Kaduna State. He was awarded Best Media Personality (northern Nigeria) in 2018 by City People Award. He is also the convener of Bridging the Gap Conference, founder of Teach the Nation and co-founder, The Committed Team.

He is currently the Head of News and Current Affairs Department at Invicta 98.9FM, Kaduna. He was Head of Programmes Department at Vision 92.1FM, Abuja; On-Air Personality/News Anchor at Liberty 91.7FM and Capital Sounds 90.9FM respectively. He host Office of the Citizen, Today with Didam and Bridging the Gap on Liberty FM, Social Media, and Invicta FM respectively.

Presently pursuing his Master’s in Strategic Communication at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Didam had his first degree in Mass Communication at Bayero University, Kano.

Didam has also been shortlisted to join the third (3rd) Cohort of the prestigious Kashim Ibrahim Fellowship for the 2020/2021 Session.

He has been on the job for the past eighteen years, covering Security/Defence, Health, Education and Politics. His inspiration came as a result of his crave for facts and figures; hunger for the right information/knowledge led him into the world of journalism.

On his experience as a journalist, Didam stated that Life for him as a Journalist has been an interesting ongoing voyage. But that doesn’t mean ‘’I haven’t had my own share of rough and troubling moments’’.  He has had a handful of challenges as a journalist, but none has gotten to him like being misunderstood by politicians as being partisan. He said his love for newsworthy stories, fact and figures keep me going even when thoughts of taking a bow come.

Didam has no regrets so far as a journalist; he said it has been an enjoyable ride, he also have enjoyed training’s by BBC Media Action, DFID and Africa Media Development Foundation amongst others.
