Grants available for environmental crime investigation [Africa, Asia]

Journalists can apply for US$1,000 to US$5,000 grants to investigate environmental crime in Africa and Asia.

The Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime, along with the Henry Nxumalo FoundationOxpeckers Investigative Environmental Journalism and #WildEye Asia, is offering the grants to enable and encourage the exposure of environmental crime of any sort, and provide journalists the time and resources for this kind of reporting.

Reporting that is in the public interest, aims to reveal new information, is in-depth and investigative in nature and uses innovative techniques, approaches or technologies are most favourable.

The investigative stories must be completed within four months and published or broadcast after completion.

To apply, submit a resume, a budget and where possible an expression of interest from a publisher or broadcaster.

The deadline is Aug. 31.
